It’s October now, and everyone seems to have picked up something creepy to read. Except me. I’m reading a few different books at the moment – an annoying habit that I’m doing my best to break – but my main focus is The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan, the first Kane Chronicles book, which is centred around Egyptian mythology. I’ve almost finished, and it’s been pretty fun so far (though it’s not on the same level as the Percy Jackson books)… I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends! 🙂

Teaser #1:

He’s not bad-looking, I suppose. He’s reasonably tall and fit and his hair isn’t hopeless. He’s got Dad’s eyes, and my mates Liz and Emma have even told me from his picture that he’s hot, which I must take with a grain of salt because (a) he’s my brother, and (b) my mates are a bit crazed.

Teaser #2:

‘Humans never really forget Egypt, you know. Every time they build a city on the banks of a river, they remember their heritage, buried deep in their subconscious. This is Pyramid Arena – sixth largest pyramid in the world. It used to be an arena for … what is that game you like, Khufu?’

Agh!‘ Khufu said indignantly. And I swear he gave me a dirty look.

‘Yes, basketball,’ Thoth said.
